Speight's Summit is a refreshing golden lager. Brewed with only natural ingredients, the clear, crisp, cool taste of Summit reflects the alpine environment that gives it its name.
Speight's was born in 1876 when James Speight, Charles Greenslade and William Dawson established their own brewery in Dunedin's Rattray St. Speight's is still one of New Zealand's most loved beer brands and the Speight's family now includes a range of approachable craft beers, a cider, and Speight's Summit. Launched as New Zealand’s golden lager with all natural ingredients in 2008, Speight’s Summit took away the prestigious Gold Medal and Trophy at the BrewNZ awards, as well as winning two silver medals at the Australian International Beer Awards in 2009 and 2012.
Characterised by crisp, clean hoppy bitterness - Summit is brewed by blending fresh light colour malts with 4 subtly different hops. The hops provide the crisp refreshing finish while the toasted natural malts give the distinct golden colour and a delicate biscuity flavour. There are also subtle hints of orange and spice
Speight's Summit is perfect with more subtle white meat such as chicken and fish - however a classic kiwi pork sausage also complements this beer nicely. Try it out with an Asian chicken salad to complement the orange hint that the hops provide.
